Food Shelf Sunday

Keep me, O God,
from all things which come to nothing,
            out of which in your kingdom nothing can proceed,
            or that count for less or worse than nothing upon earth;
                        Keep me, O God.

From absorptions which bear no fruit,
            thoughts that are empty,
            and hasty compliances with evil;
            from fantasies and obsessions,
            and all baseness to my own soul;
                        Keep me, O God.

From laziness and intolerance of mind;
            all impulses and schemes of vainglory;
            from self-complacency;
                        Keep me, O God.

Let this be both my ambition and my peace:
            to walk in your light,
                        that I might become a child of your light;
            to bring forth the fruits of the Spirit,
                        that I may grow into your likeness;
            and to abide in your love,
                        who first loved me;
                        who loves to the end,
                                    without end.   Amen
